We at Prosperity Acres said goodbye to my Mom, Thelma V. Haynes today. She will be missed very much. She loved animals so much and was always caring for them. She loved birthing season and bringing the baby goats into her house to pet and love on and then sending them back out to be with their Mom’s.
She taught me as a young child that animals are God’s creations and that you care for them as much as your own children. Thank you Mom for instilling in all of us to take care of the animals as God would. We will miss you at the shows but know you are now watching over us from a much better place and that your pain is all gone.
Thank you to Hospice for being angels on earth and taking such wonderful care of you.
Love you and miss you Mom,
Mary, Mike, Amanda, Edward, Jacqueline and Jacob
we will be taking a few days off from blogging and hope our followers understand we need time to ourselves to start healing. Thank you the Bowen’s

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Federal regulators are set to release the most sweeping antitrust rules covering the meat industry in decades, potentially altering the balance of power between meat companies and the farmers who raise their animals.
Activists, farmers and meat industry officials have been anxiously awaiting the new rules, which will be released this spring for public comment and are set to take effect this summer.
The regulations are seen as a kind of test for the Obama administration and how far it will go in regulating competition in the meat industry.

I read many articles each day about the reasons to not eat meat, they say this is bad for you, that is bad for you, or this or that is bad for the environment. There is good and bad in everything, we just need to get over ourselves. It really is all good. Enjoy the article.
Helene York’s at it again: determinedly arguing that beef, even when entirely grass-fed, can’t be “green.” But her recent post falls far short of proving this provocative claim. She argues, essentially, that because cattle belch and fart a lot, beef is bad for the environment, focusing entirely on methane emissions, to the exclusion of all else. But zeroing in on a single environmental consequence is nonsensical. (Since rice farming contributes as much as 29 percent of the world’s anthropogenic methane, one may well wonder why she is not urging us to cut back our rice consumption.) As with all foods, the environmental impact of beef varies widely, depending on many factors.
