US food prices continue to rise

By Prosperity Acres On March 17th, 2011

As gas prices continue to increase so does everything else.  Food prices continue to escalate in the US as oil prices drive the prices up.  I am a supporter of eating local and eating fresh, sometimes that means you can’t always get what you want in food supply, because if you eat local you can’t always have foods available to you.  Meaning those delicious apples that get shipped across country if you tried getting them here in Maryland you would only be able to get them in late summer and fall.  Therefore you have to take all that into consideration when shopping.  If you cut out all the processed foods that come in a box and where not grown in Mother Earth to begin with that would help a great deal with your grocery bill.

Shop at Farmer’s Markets as much as possible, join local CSA’s.  Eating fresh and eating local is great for your body and great for the local economy.  Enjoy this article.
